our product range
Raw (or crude) shea butter is extracted from the shea nuts and prepared without using preservatives or chemicals in the processing stage. This unrefined and unstandardized butter has the advantage of maintaining its natural properties and vitamins during the production process. The product could be less consistent from batch to batch when compared to refined shea butter.
Refined shea butter has been altered in the process to filter out impurities, remove its natural scent, and remove its colour. After refining, the product becomes more consistent from batch to batch and its shelf life extends. A drawback in the refining process is the removal of bioactive nutrients. Shedu’s refined shea butter is either refined in the Netherlands or directly at origin in Africa.
Expanding our shea portfolio, we now offer premium shea fractions tailored for specific food, confectionery and cosmetic applications. Through fractionation, shea butter is separated into two valuable components:
Shea Stearin is the solid fraction, rich in stearic acid and high-melting triglycerides. Ideal for cocoa butter alternatives, specialty fats, confectionery coatings, and formulations requiring enhanced hardness and stability.
Shea Olein is the liquid fraction, offering improved spreadability and functionality for food, personal care and industrial applications where a softer fat profile is desired.
We are excited to introduce Shedu EX, our prime CBE. Shedu EX is a cocoa butter equivalent made from high quality vegetable oils. It has a stable melting curve and, together with its neutral flavour, it offers excellent compatibility with cocoa butter.
Shedu EX comes in two types. Shedu EX 40 is our premium hard type CBE, offering a higher melting curve than cocoa butter. Shedu EX 35 is the softer version of our CBE, for applications requiring a softer texture and a faster, smoother melting profile.
